Two of them finished watching movie and I interviewed them about movie and their thought.
1. Hideki(Japanese)
He told me some important things about movie.
First, he said the movie was boring and he didn't clearly catch intention what the director wanted to deliver to audience. He also said if the movie shows us before & after bombing on Nagasaki, the movie would be great.
Second, he rasied a question "Why did the director put two Korean soldier scene?" And I also wondered, but I think, there was anti-foreign sentiment because of continuous World War Second and atomic bomb dropping on 6.

Third, he felt really sad when two lovers had to separate, cause man had to join the military service for his own country. And he mentioned history of that time. During war, there was a slogan in Japan which was 'Depending our country is most important thing." That's why, he thought, lover of man pushed him to join the army.

Last, he told me his point of view on Japanese history. He said "We must know the mistake which our ancestor did. That's why we must not repeat same mistake." He also mentioned his middle and high school teacher didn't teach what is a real history. Teachers only taught surface of the real history.
2. Aron(Philippine)
He said this movie is really really sad cause people don't know there will be A-bomb dropping on the town they live next day and A-bomb will kill and burn everything. He also said scenes in the movie were really vivid and simple. It shows life of ordinary people. So maybe we are the one of the ordinary people and we don't know what will gonna happen tomorrow. Therefore, he argued that we have to live life to the fullest as today is the last day.
I want to answer about question of Hideki : the reason Why the director put two Korean soldier in this film.
ReplyDeleteJapan is victim of atomic bomb which America dropped, and assailant who invaded Korea first and started a war. From my perspective, director recognized they are causer of war, even though they were seriously damaged by atomic bomb. Thus, through this scene, director tried to not only show people Japanese disaster, but also admit their fault indirectly.
